Jo Ann Hammond-Meiers, Ph.D.,
A.D.T.R.
Dr. Hammond-Meiers is a Registered Psychologist
(1982), receiving her PhD from the University of
Alberta in Counselling Psychology in 1992. She has
been working as a counselor since 1974. She is a
Board Certified Dance/Movement
Therapist (2009), obtaining the Academy of Dance Therapist Registered (1986). She is
a Registered Canadian Art Therapist (2005) and is a
Professional member of ATTA. She has a Graduate
Diploma in Distance Education and Technology from Athabasca University (2009. She is a long-standing
member of the Canadian Group Psychotherapy
Association. Dr. Hammond-Meiers utilizes a number of
kinds of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive
behavioural, solution focused, and expressive
arts therapies in her work with adults, teens, and
children who have experienced trauma, loss, and/or
emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Dr. Hammond-Meiers
has completed levels I and II of Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing training from the
EMDR Institute (1998). Her practice includes therapy
with adults, children, teens, couples, and families.
